High-Low Skirt

Hey beautiful people! So here are a few recent shots of me in a Chitenge (tribal print) high- low skirt I made and wore a few weeks ago. I wore it to the September edition of ‘Fashion Fridays’, a monthly networking event here in Lusaka for fashion junkies like me!

A Little History Lesson;

The high low skirt is a Victorian Era trend from as far back as the 1870s, the standard floor sweeping hem and long tail was pretty popular back then and was coined “fishtail” due to its asymmetric appearance. By the 1980s the trend changed and began to be considered unpopular and was then referred to as “mullet”.
The high-low asymmetric trend has since made a comeback, having first made reappearance in the Spring/Summer 2012 designer collections in places such as New York and Paris.

The Little Photo Shoot;

We shot the photos on the ground floor of Foxdale Mall, the usual venue for the event I mentioned earlier, the art on the wall immediately caught our attention and so a photo opp presented itself! Photo cred to Linda xoxo

Fast forward to 2014 and the see how the high-low hem line has gotten higher!

At the show;
